GROVERTOWN-David Ray Singleton, 63, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 in South Bend, IN.

Dave was born on August 20, 1954 in Knox, IN to Raymond Singleton and Rosie (Halsey). His parents divorced when Dave was three. His father married Vera Carpenter in 1959 and his mother married Chester Clark in 1994.

On April 6, 1979 in Grovertown, Dave married the love of his life, Joanne (Vendola) Filip, who survives. Joanne had four children, Edward (Kathy) Filip and George (Hazel) Filip, all of Knox, John (Nicole) Filip of Plymouth and Pamela (Robert) Vida of Grovertown. Together, they had one daughter, Angel (Jason) Singleton of Grovertown. Dave was proud and loved all of their children very much. Dave is also survived by his father, Raymond Singleton of Grovertown; his Mother, Rosie Clark of Wooster, OH; two granddaughters, Tessa and Taylor Winrotte of Grovertown; 13 step-grandchildren, Gerald Wilke II of LaPaz, Curtis Wilke of Plymouth, Kayla Filip of Hamlet, Dustin Holland of Knox, Conner Filip of Knox, Hanna Vida of Grovertown
Madison, Lily, Willow, Kodiak, Rick, Thomas and Johnny Ray Filip, all of Koontz Lake; two great-grandsons, Lendin Filip of Plymouth and Zander Wilke of Plymouth; and three great-granddaughters, Bali, Addison, Rylee Wilke, all of Plymouth. Dave loved all of his step-children and step-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Gregory (Judy) Singleton of West Virginia; one half-brother, Raymond (Kathy) Singleton of Grovertown; four half-sisters, Kelly (Tim) Small and Laura Crock of Ohio, Rayeanne (Pete) Kuchel of Grovertown and Margo (Eugene) Manns of Kentucky; and three step-sisters, Cynthia (John) Singleton, Jacquilyn (Don) Stone and Bobbie Ann (William) Frazier, all of Knox.

He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Vera Singleton; step-father, Chester Clark; great-niece, Brooke Day; half-sister-Shannon Beem; and Shannon's daughter, Mariah Beem.

Dave's greatest love was the family get togethers with his wife, their children and grandchildren. He was very proud of them all. Dave also loved to hear a good Southern minister like Reverend Jackson and the late Reverend James Jessie. When he left their service, he felt fulfilled in his heart.

Dave served in the U.S. Air Force, the Ohio Air National Guard and the U.S. Navy. In 1976, Dave graduated from the Ohio Police Academy. Dave served on the Holgate, Ohio Police Department, the Knox, Indiana Police Department, and the Starke County Sheriff's Department in Indiana.

A graveside service will be held with Military Honors on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. CDT at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
